Change feeling Alone in 6 steps

You feel alone. You recognize you feel alone and you’re pretty sure there is no way out. This is just the way it is and always will be. Most likely you have a particular story about how you got here and have hoped for ways to change it. You are too….fill in the blank (weird, shy, anxious, angry etc)…to fit in. Besides that, people are not trustworthy and will never understand.

Well, the good news is you are not alone in your feelings. But the even better news is there are ways to change that perception! Let’s start the New Year re-connected with these 6 steps.

Be your own best friend. Stop beating yourself up for not being something better and appreciate yourself for being the gift to the world that you are. Make a list of all of your positive attributes.

Listen to your thoughts. Every time you hear yourself repeating “I am alone” counter it with “I am not alone”, because the truth is you are not. We live under the illusion of being separate. It is the feeling that makes it all seem real. What you put your attention on grows.

Connect to a higher power, whether it is nature, the universe or God. The name is irrelevant the feeling of connection is the point. Pray, meditate, get outside. If you are leery of a higher power simply allow for the possibility and ask. But you need to take the time to stop and sit with the asking, praying, meditation or nature. Connection is a practice, like learning how to play music or how to drive. The more you do it the better you get. All you need is five minutes a day.

Find a community of like-minded people. Something we are sorely missing in our culture is a deep sense of community. These days you get to create or join a group that fits your style. There are many possibilities. It may take some time to find the right connections but don’t give up. Your people are out there.

Stop avoiding your feelings. That wee small voice that is nagging at you to reach out, call a friend, or to stop and nurture yourself, is the wisdom you are looking for. Take the time to journal or ask someone to listen, as you work through the emotions that get in the way of following through on that voice.

Ask for help. Let go of the stigma that if you ask for help there is something wrong with you. The truth is EVERYONE has some type of issue they are working through!! Find a teacher or practitioner who can help you shift your perspective because that’s all feeling alone is – a perspective!! Your purpose awaits and habitually feeling alone is holding you back.

One of the ways I can help you is with hypnosis. Hypnosis helps to reframe an ongoing issue or habit. A deep state of relaxation or trance like state allows for communication with the subconscious mind. Never fear, you will always be in control, hypnosis is not brain washing!
